McCarthy Practices, Role Unclear with Giants

J.J. McCarthy joined the Giants for practice following his trade from Minnesota, though coach John Harbaugh has confirmed Jameis Winston will start at quarterback Sunday against Arizona. The Giants haven't specified who will back up Winston between McCarthy and practice squad QB Jake Haener.

The team gave up a fifth-round pick for McCarthy after losing Jaxson Dart and Brian Burns to season-ending injuries. Harbaugh called McCarthy a 'very talented player (who) is going to make us a stronger football team.' Winston had 14 of 22 passes for 118 yards in a 12-7 win over Tennessee, with the Giants accumulating 238 total yards but no touchdowns. cat-cross.com
