Towhid Hridoy Hopeful of Playing India at Home

Towhid Hridoy is going through a purple patch in the ongoing Lanka Premier League. The Bangladesh batter played a blinder (50 off 24 balls) for Colombo Kaps in the Eliminator against Kandy Royals on Thursday. The 25-year-old’s strike rate is the best among all batters in the LPL. Towhid made headlines when he scored his maiden ODI century (100 off 118 balls) against India in the 2025 Champions Trophy in Dubai. Hridoy showed immense resilience during his partnership with Jaker Ali (68).

Talking about Towhid, there has always been a perception that he is an excellent boundary hitter, but his six-hitting ability has often been questioned. In the LPL, however, everyone is witnessing a different version of Hridoy.

“Whenever I go out to bat, I try to execute my plans. I always assess what the situation demands and then try to bat accordingly. That has been my approach,” Towhid told RevSportz on the sidelines of an LPL game at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

With Bangladesh likely to host India in a white-ball series scheduled in September, Towhid is excited at the prospect of facing the world champions.

According to Towhid, “We are very excited about the series. Every player wants to play against India. Whenever you face a big team, it gives you confidence. Hopefully, the series will take place in Bangladesh.”

He added, “Personally, I enjoy playing against the bigger teams because it is always a great challenge. If India comes, we want to perform well as a team. We lost to them in the last series, but we are a strong side in our home conditions. Our aim is to do well in the coming series, and I will try to contribute as much as possible.”
