It’s India vs Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on September 5 in the Women’s Asia Cup. The Women in Blue have won both their games convincingly so far against Thailand and Hong Kong, China, while Pakistan have also won their tournament opener against Thailand.

However, when it comes to this rivalry, India have clearly dominated the Women in Green, winning six of their seven T20I clashes in the Women’s Asia Cup. The only time India lost was in 2022, when Pakistan registered a 13-run win in Sylhet.

Once again, Harmanpreet Kaur and co. will be expected to continue their dominance, while Fatima Sana’s Pakistan will look to repeat their 2022 heroics. The only time these two teams met at the Dubai International Stadium, during the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup, the Women in Blue registered a convincing six-wicket win.

Battle to watch out for: Smriti Mandhana vs Fatima Sana

India’s star opener and vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana, comes into this clash after a record-breaking 124-run knock against Hong Kong, China, becoming the highest international run-scorer of all time in women’s cricket.

Her wicket will therefore be precious for Pakistan, and Fatima, their skipper, could be a key factor in that battle. So far in 2026 WT20Is, Fatima has been brilliant as an all-rounder. She has scored 383 runs in 14 innings at an average of 42.55 and a strike rate of 160.25, including three fifties. With the ball, she has also managed 19 wickets.

Since the start of 2025, Pakistan have won only eight of their 21 WT20Is. Fatima has been part of seven of those eight wins, underlining her influence on the team.

Across those seven victories, she has scored 133 runs in five innings at an average of 66.50 and a strike rate of 187.32, including one fifty. With the ball, she has taken 12 wickets in seven innings at an economy rate of 6.45.

Hence, in the powerplay, with the new ball under the lights at the Dubai International Stadium, Mandhana vs Fatima could be a match-defining battle.
