Niki Prasad’s all-round effort in vain as Australia A seal T20 series against India A

Australia A Women sealed the three-match unofficial T20 series against India A as the visitors registered a 30-run win in the second T20I on Tuesday in New Chandigarh. After a dismal show from the bowlers, who conceded 178/2 in 20 overs, an unbeaten 54-run knock from Niki Prasad was the only bright spot as the home side fell 30 runs short in the chase.

For Australia A, opener Katie Mack smashed an unbeaten 83 off 60, while Rachel Trenaman (37 off 25), Charli Knott (26 off 20), and Anika Learoyd (unbeaten 24 off 16) also chipped in as they reached the 178-run mark. A 75-run opening stand set the tone, while an unbeaten 65-run stand provided them with a solid finish.

With the ball, only Niki managed to bag two wickets despite conceding 41 runs in her four overs. Then, in the chase as well, apart from her, no one stood up and provided any kind of support. Batting at number seven, Niki remained unbeaten on 54 off 31, striking at 174.19, as India A managed 148/7 in their 20 overs.

Niki’s all-round display went in vain, but that was the only positive to take for the home side as the T20 series is now lost. The third match is scheduled to take place at the same venue on September 17.
